Volga Territorial Generation Company (TGC-7) was founded on August 1, 2005 within the frame of Samara, Saratov, Ulyanovsk and Orenburg power systems restructuring. Major activity of the company is electric and thermal power production, electric power sales at wholesale market, heat supply to industrial and municipal consumers.
Volga TGC incorporates generation and grid assets of Samaraenergo, Saratovenergo and Ulyanovskenergo with further 100% shares of Orenburg TGC contribution to its authorized capital (since March 9, 2007). In total the Company consolidate 21 stations with total electric power capacity of 6879,7 MW and thermal power capacity of 28 265 GCal. Volga TGC - second largest TGC in Russia in terms of installed capacity.
As on January 2007 total headcount of Volga TGC enterprises amounted to 20 616, including 3 673 employees of Orenburg TGC.
Currently Volga TGC is the major heat supplier for nearly 5 million inhabitants and industrial enterprises of 11 cities in four large industrial regions of Volga river basin. The company actively implements the strategy of municipal heat grid assets integration in the cities of its presence. The advantage of such projects from the standpoint of local authorities is heat supply efficiency increase, high quality of municipal heating network maintenance, heat supply cost cutting and elimination of intermediaries between the producer and the consumer.
Over 530 km of city thermal grids (double pipe system) and 180 central heating stations in Togliatti, Novokuibushevsk, Saratov and Balakovo as well as 177 boiler houses in Saratov are currently under control of Volga TGC. Orenburg TGC, being in the responsibility area of Volga TGC, also controls over 520 km of thermal grids (double pipe system), 139 central power stations and 75 municipal boiler houses in Orenburg and Mednogorsk.
Volga Territorial Generation Company started its operating activity on January 1, 2006.
