On November 16, management of Volga TGC together with representatives from Togliatti Mayor’s Office and regional government summarized the results of first stage of project of thermal energy transfer from Togliatti TPP to the Avtozavodsky district of the city. This project is the core element of the Togliatti power generation center development program that is being implemented by Volga TGC within the strategy of heat markets development. Implementation of this project will help to overcome the deficiency of thermal energy and secure future power loads of Avtozavodsky district till 2015.
Currently, three districts of Togliatti have different sources of heat supply. Residents of the Central district and enterprises of industrial area receive heat from Togliatti TPP. Heat supply of AVTOVAZ and Avtozavodsky district is provided by another affiliate of Volga TGC – VAZ TPP. Inhabitants of Komsomolsky district are supplied with heat by municipal boiler houses.
In mid nineties a number of industrial enterprises terminated their industrial activity and Togliatti TPP lost part of its load. That caused the substantial capacity reserve – about 1960 GCal/hour. On the contrary, VAZ TPP has been experiencing deficiency in capacities necessary for new consumers and possible increase of VAZ production.
The project of thermal power transfer from Togliatti TPP to Avtozavodsky district was developed for the purpose of Togliatti TPP and VAZ TPP efficiency increase, electric and thermal power output growth and meeting of the increasing demand of Togliatti for new power facilities. Implementation of this project is split into two stages.
First stage was completed in October 2006. It resulted in transfer of additional 120 GCal/hour of thermal power to Avtozavodsky district. The new 5.2 km long heating main supplies heat to new houses of 14А and 17А blocks of Avtograd.
257 million rubles were allocated for this stage implementation. This project was partially financed by the construction enterprises of Togliatti, interested in reliable heating of residential and office buildings constructed by them in Avtozavodsky district.
The second stage of heat transfer project, scheduled for 2007-2010, will require more massive investments – about 1.135 bln. rubles in 2006 year prices. These funds will be allocated for construction of new heating trunk from Togliatti TPP to crossroads of Yuzhnoye Shosse and Voroshilov str., that is about 9.5 km long. That will enable to provide additional 560 GCal/hour of thermal power for the city development.
The General Director Vasily Nikonov thanked all employees of the company for the work done and congratulated the inhabitants of Togliatti with successful start of project which would make the heat supply more reliable and efficient.
Receiving the symbolic key to the new heat trunk from the hands of power company top manager, the Mayor of Togliatti Nikolay Utkin noted: «Today we avow the joint ambitious projects in Togliatti. Their implementation will provide the city with the additional thermal power not by means of new facilities construction but due to more efficient use of the existing ones».
